Sindiwe Magona

Dr Sindiwe Magona is an author, storyteller, motivational speaker, poet, playwright, and actor. Her books include To My Children’s ChildrenForced to GrowMother to MotherBeauty’s Gift, Chasing the Tails of My Father’s Cattle, When the Village Sleeps and Theatre Road, the biography of Thembi Mtshali-Jones. She has received numerous literary prizes as well as awards in recognition of her work around women’s issues, the plight of children, and the fight against apartheid and racism. In 2021, Dr Magona received the Ellen Kuzwayo Award as well as her third honorary doctorate, from Nelson Mandela University. She lives and works in Cape Town.
